What is a Panic Attack?
Nowadays, there are many individuals suffering from panic attack problems.
If you know a person with a panic attack problem, you will probably know
as well that these people generally suffer silently inside. They don't know
the time or date that the panic attacks will occur and are waiting helplessly
for his 'enemy' to strike. It can occur while standing in queue in a grocery
store.
Now the question is what are panic attacks? It is a reaction of an individual towards a certain situation or stress. Also referred to as 'flight or fight' response, generally, a panic attack is a reaction when our body feels itself to be in danger and tries to get itself out of the way of the thing that can harm it. In some cases, panic also occurs without any feeling of danger. Such panic attacks can be due to stress or panic disorder.
The common symptoms of panic attacks are beating of heart faster, rapid breathing or lack of breath, nausea or feeling dizzy, sweating, trembling, shaking, feeling danger or fear, chest pains, chills or getting hot, having extreme feelings of death or going crazy.
There are many reasons as to why a person experiences a panic attack. Generally, stress is what causes the panic attack. Stress is directly linked to the activities that we perform in our daily lives or the events that occur. Taking too much stress is not normal for our body to handle which results in panic attack. Events such as divorce, loss in business or job are also what causes a panic attack. Even loss of a closed friend or relative or too much burden on your shoulders can lead to stress resulting in panic attack. If a normal stress occurs it is termed as anxiety but if stress becomes regular then it is termed as panic disorder. Panic disorders are not only related to stress but also to any physical change namely job, home, environment and many others.
It is also common that panic attacks can not be properly diagnosed leading to belief by the person that they have some sort of a disease which can not only result in a panic attack but also effect psychologically.
